They conducted a study and analysed the trends that should shape the future tourism.By the year 2040, international travel will become faster, easier and more ecologically sustainable, promising to provide a much more interesting experience for the traveler.
The research relied on the skills of futurologist Ray Hammond, who has nearly 40 years of experience with futuristic trends. Virtual and augmented reality
Multisensory virtual reality technology will allow you to visit a virtual hotel, discover the rooms, visit street carnivals, explore museums and restaurants, all in the comfort of your own living room or anywhere else you want.
Hotel Instant check-in
The facial recognition system is already in experimental use at some airports around the world, but within a few years this could improve even further. The idea is that the computer system can reliably identify your face, being widely used to check in in hotels or other venues.
Personal assistant in hotels
Currently, almost all hotels welcome their guests with a receptionist, however some hotels with a business focus, offer check in through a virtual personal assistant, all without a human presence. Some hotels can even offer to transport your luggage with robots.
High-speed trains
Train travel around the world is expected to improve in several ways. The development of technology can allow trains to move much faster. The speed on most rail networks is expected to rise to more than 200 km / h.
Sustainable cruises
Cruise ships will be much more environmentally friendly than today’s transatlantic giants. The ships will be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), a light fossil fuel with almost no greenhouse gas emissions, making cruise vacations one of the most environmentally friendly ways to travel the world. The range of cruises will also continue to grow.
3D printing on fabrics
In 20 years you will not need to take clothes on a trip, as it will be possible to print everything at your hotel. The idea is that it will be possible to send your measurements before arrival and your clothes will be 3D printed, reducing the amount of luggage that the 2040 tourist will have to carry. At the end of the stay, the traveller leaves the clothes for recycling on site.
Space as a regular destination
For some travelers in 2040, the world may not be enough as it may no longer offer a great choice of destinations. At this point, tourists are likely to fly to and from the Moon regularly, while looking for the experience of seeing Earth from space. Ever wonder?

Although some things on the list seem impossible, 20 years in terms of technology is enough time for a tremendous evolution. Just remember how the world was 20 years ago: the internet connection was terrible, with noisy modems. Film cameras, video clubs, there were no Apps to order food or call taxis.
Over the years we have found that with the evolution of technology, we no longer doubt other advances that may emerge. Travel and tourism will certainly benefit greatly and we will have innovative travel experiences.
